Pentland Hills Regional Park
A living, working landscape sculpted by glaciers and water, then shaped by people’s interactions over thousands of years, the Pentland Hills are valued by all, which offer great photographic opportunities
Scratch the surface of the Pentlands and it bleeds history.
The hill tops are blanketed with archaeological remains, most notably Castlelaw Fort and Souterrain, Caerketton Hill and Lawhead Hill forts with Cairns on Carnethy, and the East and West Cairn Hills at Harperigg.
Robert Louis Stevenson was born on Nov. 13, 1850 in Swanston Village Edinburgh, where the Pentland Hills were 'The Hills of Home’ and provided creative inspiration for many people including Sir Walter Scott.
